上周五,我们热烈欢迎新任外籍校长孔大卫先生(Mr. David Krupski)加入VPA大家庭!同时,我们也欢迎IB专家Shaz Bailey女士以及沪江维多利亚学校小学校长Ross Dawson先生来访我校,与我们一同开展高质量的教研。大卫校长对国际文凭(IB)课程有着明确的愿景,他不仅在中学项目(MYP)和大学预科项目(DP)拥有丰富的教学经验,还在小学项目(PYP)、中学项目(MYP)和大学预科项目(DP)的行政管理方面积累了多年经验。


大卫校长致力于发展卓越的学术能力,同时高度重视学生福祉。让我们一起为外籍校长校长的到来表示热烈欢迎!期待在未来的日子里,与我们一同开创学校的美好未来。


周六是我校的教师发展日,Shaz Bailey为全体教师进行了一次关于“深入探究”和“概念驱动的设计”的培训。她引导老师们运用不同的策略讨论了探究的意义、方法和策略,并带着老师们深入理解“概念驱动的教学设计”在促进学生实现高阶理解和跨学科理解方面的作用。



Shaz Bailey是一位拥有35年教学与领导经验的IB专家,担任IB培训官和授权访问官。她在PYP课程方面有着深入的洞见,并具备丰富的授权访问经验。Shaz的研究领域包括探究式教学和概念驱动的设计。在为期两天的培训访问中,Shaz与我校的教学管理团队一同参观课堂,了解孩子们的学习情况,并与老师分享如何使用IB的语言——包括学习者培养目标、学习方法、概念等让课堂真正成为“思考的课堂”和“探究的课堂”。Shaz和Ross给予了我们教学团队许多宝贵的建议,让我们受益匪浅。



这次校长和专家的来访为我校带来了很多见解和收获,他们的反馈将丰富我们的教学实践,为学生提供更加丰富多样的学习体验。我们期待与姐妹学校、与IB领域的专家们通力合作,提升教育、教学质量,共同推进学校的发展。


通过这次工作坊,VPA的老师们进行了深入的交流和思考,达成了对探究理念的共识。他们认识到了更多不同类型的探究模型,并掌握了丰富的探究策略。研究型的老师会在各个环节抓住孩子们的好奇心,从孩子们个人兴趣和经验出发,驱动他们不断提问和深入思考,在这个过程中,孩子们享受探究之旅的惊喜和发现,于是学习变成充满乐趣和自我驱动的过程。



在接下来的教学中,VPA的老师们将更积极地将探究的方法和理念应用于课堂,鼓励我们的孩子成为积极思考、勇于探究的IB学习者。

Last Friday, we warmly welcomed Mr. David Krupski, our new foreign principal, to the VPA family! We also welcomed Ms. Shaz Bailey, an IB expert, and Mr. Ross Dawson, the elementary school principal of VSA, to visit our school and engage in exchanging teaching and learning perspectives. Mr Krupski has a clear vision for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. He not only has extensive teaching experience in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP), but also has accumulated years of experience in the administration of the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP).


Mr Krupski is dedicated to developing excellent academic capabilities while placing a high emphasis on student well-being. Let's warmly welcome our foreign principal and look forward to creating a bright future for our school together.

Saturday was our school's teacher professional development day, and Shaz Bailey conducted a training session for all teachers on "Inquiry-based Learning" and "Concept-Driven Design." She guided the teachers in discussing the significance, methods, and strategies of inquiry and deepened their understanding of the role of "concept-driven instructional design" in promoting students' higher-order understanding and interdisciplinary comprehension.

Shaz Bailey is an IB expert with 35 years of teaching and leadership experience. She serves as an IB trainer and authorization visitor. She has profound insights into the PYP curriculum and rich experience as an authorized visitor. Shaz's research areas include inquiry-based learning and concept-driven design. During the two-day training visit, Shaz visited classrooms with our school's teaching team, understood the students' learning situations, and shared with the teachers how to use the language of the IB, including learner profile attributes, approaches to learning, and concepts, to truly create "thinking classrooms" and "inquiry classrooms." Shaz and Ross provided our teaching team with valuable advice, from which we greatly benefited.


The visit of the principal and experts has brought us many insights and gains. Their feedback will enrich our teaching practices and provide students with more diverse and enriching learning experiences. We look forward to collaborating with sister schools and experts in the field of IB to enhance the quality of education and teaching and promote the development of our school together.

Through this workshop, the teachers at VPA engaged in deep communication and reflection, reaching a consensus on the concept of inquiry. They have become familiar with various types of inquiry models and have mastered a wealth of inquiry strategies. Research-oriented teachers will seize children's curiosity at all stages, starting from their personal interests and experiences, driving them to continuously ask questions and think deeply. In this process, children will enjoy the surprises and discoveries of the inquiry journey, turning learning into a fun and self-driven process.

In the upcoming teaching, VPA teachers will actively apply inquiry methods and concepts in the classroom, encouraging our children to become active thinkers and inquisitive IB learners.
