This week, we were delighted to welcome parents to our English and Maths curriculum workshops, designed to strengthen the home-school partnership and provide practical strategies to support learning at home. Led by Ms Sims and Ms Byrne, these interactive sessions gave parents valuable insights into how we teach these core subjects and how they can reinforce learning beyond the classroom.
In the English workshop, Ms Sims introduced our new approach using the Cambridge Global English and Cambridge Unlock textbooks. She explained how these resources help develop pupils’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, and how we assess progress. Parents also gained an understanding of how the curriculum aligns with key learning objectives and explored ways to support their child’s literacy development at home.
Ms Byrne’s Maths session focused on building mathematical vocabulary and problem-solving skills. She demonstrated key activities used in lessons, including interactive games that help pupils master key terminology. Parents actively participated in lively games, experiencing first-hand how vocabulary is reinforced in class. The session also explored the real-life applications of Maths and the importance of fostering a growth mindset to develop confidence and resilience in mathematical learning.
It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and engagement from our parents. Strengthening the connection between school and home is essential for pupil success, and we look forward to our next set of workshops in April. Thank you to all who attended!
