In April 2025, students from BMH excelled at the "Drawing Our Campus: Art Education in Action" sketching competition for primary and secondary students in Longhua District. Organized by the district's education bureau, the event attracted over 300 participants. Our students demonstrated strong foundational skills and unique perspectives, winning a total of 1 second prizes and 3 third prizes . We are proud of their accomplishment.
Prior to the competition, students undertook a month of intensive sketching practice. On campus, they carefully observed and depicted spring foliage, school architecture, student activities, and still-life subjects (such as corn).
Following on-campus training, teachers and students visited Guanlan Print Village for outdoor sketching. There, they created works featuring century-old Hakka houses, flowing water, enclosed courtyards (si shui gui tang), and banana leaves. These exercises significantly enhanced students' ability to observe forms, spatial relationships, and details, while improving their technical skills in translating observations into artwork.
Through classroom sketching sessions and field trips, we guide students to appreciate natural beauty and cultural heritage in real-world settings, cultivating their aesthetic appreciation, observational skills, and artistic expression. These competition results affirm our students' dedicated practice and artistic perception, showcasing the tangible outcomes of our art education program.
Congratulations to All Award Winners!
