Delicious! 教室里种菜?健康又美味 | PBL课程-垂直农场大收获

这个春夏,在华外小学五年级各班教室里长出了一片绿意盎然的小天地。给路过的老师、同学及家长们带来了不小的冲击,这是教室?农场?长势喜人的绿油油的青菜VS简易的支架,像施了魔法一样神奇!

This spring, pockets of lush greenery emerged in HW fifth-grade classrooms. This surprising sight made passersby – teachers, classmates, and parents – do a double-take. Classroom or farm? Thriving green vegetables contrasted with simple frames, creating a striking scene!



老师和家长纷纷驻足观察、感慨赞叹。原来,这是同学们正在开展的PBL项目学习!孩子们化身“城市新农人”,用一场充满科技与创意的PBL项目式学习,揭开垂直农场的神秘面纱,为可持续发展写下属于自己的绿色答案。

Teachers and parents stopped to observe and marvel. This was the students' Project-Based Learning (PBL) in action! Transforming into "urban new farmers," they embarked on a tech-driven PBL project, demystifying vertical farming and crafting their own green solutions for sustainability.



华外小学部每个年级以不同的主题开展“城市主题跨学科项目系列课程”PBL项目学习,五年级的课程主题为《垂直农场设计》。课程依据新课标对跨学科主题教学的要求,注重让大概念教学、项目式学习等理念与方法落地。

The Vertical Farm Design course is part of HW's "Urban Theme Interdisciplinary Project Series." It aligns with new curriculum standards for interdisciplinary learning, implementing concepts like big idea teaching and project-based learning.


如今,全球城市化快速发展,加剧了耕地资源的紧缺;传统农业需要大量灌溉用水,而水资源短缺的状况也日益严峻。人类面临的挑战是如何在有限的土地和水资源条件下,满足城市日益增长的粮食需求。

Rapid global urbanization intensifies pressure on arable land. Traditional agriculture demands vast amounts of irrigation water, while water scarcity worsens. The challenge: how to meet growing urban food demand with limited land and water.


《垂直农场设计》项目课程带领学生探索解决这一挑战的方法。学生们扮演垂直农场设计师的角色,通过科学探究和动手实践,了解垂直农场的主要特征,掌握水培种植的基本方法,并在此基础上,设计一个充分利用空间、节约水资源,并能为城市居民提供充足优质蔬菜水果的垂直农场方案。

This course guides students to explore solutions. Acting as vertical farm designers, they investigate and experiment to understand vertical farming's core features and master basic hydroponic methods. Their goal: design a vertical farm plan that maximizes space, conserves water, and provides sufficient, quality produce for city residents.



课程包含三个循序渐进的子任务,跟着步骤走,孩子们逐渐成为水培种植小专家:

The course progresses through three structured tasks, turning students into hydroponic experts:



子任务一是认识垂直农场,在了解垂直农场与传统农场的异同及植物生长条件后,孩子们进行蔬菜种子萌发实验、搭建水培种植系统;

Task 1: Understand vertical farms. After comparing them to traditional farms and studying plant growth needs, students conduct seed germination experiments and build hydroponic systems.


子任务二是优化种植系统,孩子们在老师的引导下测量光照强度、配制营养液、设计蔬菜生长条件对比实验并制作种植系统优化产品设计说明书;

Task 2: Optimize the growing system. Guided by teachers, students measure light intensity, mix nutrient solutions, design plant growth comparison experiments, and create optimized system design specifications.


子任务三是设计垂直农场,包含垂直农场需求分析、垂直农场解决方案设计、制作演讲 PPT、策划水培蔬菜展示活动、项目投标评审会。

Task 3: Design the vertical farm. This includes needs analysis, solution design, creating presentation PPTs, planning a hydroponic produce showcase, and a project proposal review.

在教学开放周活动中,同学们将PBL项目研究的丰硕成果,生动鲜活地呈现在家长们面前,每一份展示都凝聚着探索的智慧与实践的热忱 。

During Teaching Open Week, students presented their substantial PBL project outcomes to parents. Each display reflected their dedication and ingenuity in exploration and practice.

在这段日子里,每一个清晨到黄昏,孩子们细心照料,关注着每一次叶片的舒展,每一滴营养液的调配,用心感受着每一株蔬菜的成长变化。看着幼苗在无土的环境中茁壮成长,他们见证了科技与自然的完美融合。这不仅是蔬菜的生长,更是他们梦想的拔节。

Day after day, students tended their plants. They monitored leaf growth, mixed nutrient solutions, and observed each plant's progress. Seeing seedlings thrive without soil demonstrated nature and technology working together. This was more than plant growth; it was their dreams taking shape.

After two months, harvest arrived. The fresh greens in their hands were the fruit of hard work and ingenuity. Beyond the vibrant produce, they witnessed personal growth and transformation. In their vertical farms, they planted seeds of hope for a greener future, gained a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship, and discovered the courage to innovate. This hands-on experience was their most vivid lesson, teaching responsibility, patience, and teamwork. Let's share the joy cultivated by their effort!
